Creative Centerpieces

January 13, 2010

I love my job…I truly do. I love to challenge myself to come up with new designs, revamp old ones, and keep up with the trends. Nothing is more satisfying than having clients come to me with a rough idea, be able to create it, and then have them say “It’s exactly what I wanted!”

These past few days have been filled with just those moments; Winnie the Pooh baby shower, another Winter Wonderland Sweet 16, Hollywood themed 50th birthday, and a 90th birthday.. the fun part is seeing the clients reaction to what you have created for them.

There are so many great design elements in the market place now – battery operated lights, crystals, feathers, glittered letters and shapes, the list is endless…a little imagination can take you a long way.

Now more than ever we need to  try and push the design envelope to come up with really creative centerpieces on smaller budgets. I find that if you are passionate about your work, it will reflect in your designs (“a little bit of me goes into everything I create”) and your clients will appreciate that..No job is too small, ever…even a simple centerpiece can be stunning when presented  with the right enthusiasm and fun.

Looking forward to the new year and coming up with more creative centerpieces. :)

Winter Wonderland Sweet 16

January 4, 2010

Glittering snowflakes, silver ball ornaments, powdery blue accents, pearly white touches…it must be a Winter Wonderland Sweet 16.. and this past Saturday we created this dazzling theme for one lucky young lady.

It is always exciting to see the finished product after all the blood sweat and tears that you put into your projects. And this event was no exception..The pearl azure blue, white and metallic silver balloons added just the right touches and really complimented the white Christmas tree adorned with pearly white and powdery blue trimmings; it was magical..and here are a couple of pictures:

It wouldn’t be New Years Eve without Balloons.  Not only will they add color and festivity to your party they can be the hit of the evening. Here are a couple of ideas I have to share.

Use a funnel to fill balloons with glitter and confetti and hang curling ribbon from the ceiling.  Tie small bells to helium balloons so when they are bumped or popped they ring in the New Year.

Here is a great balloon game to play: RUN AND POP! NEW YEARS’ BALLOON RELAY RACE: For those that will have smaller children at their New Year’s party, make sure to include a few games that they can enjoy and play together. All the kids love this New Year game. To play, divide the children into 2 or more equal teams and stand them in a line. Give each team ten balloons in a basket. The first in each line takes a balloon and runs to the other side of the room/yard/area and sits or stomps on the balloon to pop it. After popping the balloon they run back to the line and tag the next person who does the same thing. The game goes on until one team has popped all of their balloons. The winning team gets a small prize like a New Years party favor which could be a toy! Make sure to have fun with this game by giving great New Years gifts to all the guests! Even adult children will love this game. You could make the party more festive by decorating the house with New Years decorations!
